Watkins 1868 - Our Thoughts

  • Company Overview

    A Walk Through History

Scrolling through the Watkins website is like taking a walk through time. The Minnesota based company was established in 1868 by Joseph Ray Watkins. He created a pain-relieving liniment for hard working women with tired, aching muscles. This liniment is now 96.5% natural, and is still sold today. Today, Watkins has over 100 products, and they have been manufactured in the same Minnesota factory for over one hundred years. Watkins is committed to continue making hard-working products from high-quality natural ingredients.

    America’s First Guarantee

In 1869, Watkins was the first American company to offer a money-back guarantee on their products. They introduced the “Trial-Mark Bottle.” Watkins gave customers a risk-free way to try the products by adding a molded “trial mark” to each bottle. Customers who used the products and stayed above the mark could get a full refund. Currently, if customers are not satisfied for whatever reason, Watkins offers a 60-day guarantee for a refund or replacement.

    The Watkins Man

From the beginning, Watkins relied on door-to-door sales throughout Minnesota via its trusted team of Watkins Consultants. “The Watkins Man” was a household name. Now, Watkins Consultants are home-based business owners in North America who share a passion for natural and environmentally friendly Watkins’ products. They share the products via website sales, wholesale sales, catalog sales, party sales, and booth sales.

    Lights, Camera, Action

A 2002 Emmy award-winning television movie, “Door to Door” portrayed the inspiring story of Bill Porter. Bill Porter was a Watkins Man, walking door-to-door for over 50 years in his Portland, Oregon sales territory despite crippling cerebral palsy.

    Over 100 Products

The original pain-relieving liniment was just the beginning for Watkins to provide top-quality, natural-based products. Today, Watkins offers over 100 products including: distinctive gourmet food products free of fillers and additives, natural-based apothecary products, environmentally friendly home care products, and personal care products.

  • Starter Kit

There is not a traditional direct sales Starter Kit for Watkins’ consultants but consultants can get started for a $29.95 plus tax membership fee. Consultants can choose to build a home-based business, sign up as a nonprofit organization for fundraising, or take advantage of the discount themselves. The membership fee is required yearly and benefits include wholesale discounts on everything they purchase, a Watkins e-Consultant website to facilitate online sales, and an official consultant training and support website.

After enrolling as a consultant and paying the membership fee, consultants have everything needed to refer orders from their website and receive commission. Consultants can start building a business while taking pride in the company’s rich history and products made with high-quality natural ingredients. All they will need is a computer, tablet, and/or smart phone and they will be ready to go!

  • Compensation Plan

Watkins’ consultants earn income on personal purchases and on retail sales. Consultants can sell the products to customers, use them in their own home, or give them as gifts all at a discount. Free shipping is available for orders over $100. The retail discount is 15% off monthly sales over $150, 20% off monthly sales over $500, 25% off monthly sales over $1,000, 30% off monthly sales over $5,000, or 35% off monthly sales over $10,000.

This plan allows consultants to build a team of sales professionals for additional income. Team-building is available to consultants in the form of achievement level bonuses. These bonuses are based on the overall team points, not just on the consultant’s sales efforts for the month. Points are approximately 1 point for every $1.10 USD in team sales. The achievement level bonus is 2.5% for over 500 points, 5% for over 1,000 points, 7.5% for over 1,500 points or 10% bonus over 2,000 points. This allows consultants to form a sales team for passive income on their recruits’ sales.
