Privacy Policy

Direct Sales Aid is operated by DirectSalesAid.com, based in Dallas, Oregon. We’re responsible for the personal information described here. Questions go to info@directsalesaid.com.

Account information. Your name, email address and password (stored as a one-way hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, verified email address, Google account ID and profile photo link.

Listing content. What you publish about your business: profile text, photos, location, phone number, website and social links. Listings are public by design.

Billing records. Your plan, subscription status and payment history. Card details are entered with our payment processor; we don’t receive or store full card numbers.

Messages and leads. When someone uses a contact form on a listing, we store their name, email, optional phone number and message so the member can see their leads, and we email it to that member. We also keep email sent to and from directsalesaid.com addresses, and inquiries you send us (for example through the Launch Program or accessibility forms).

Reviews and votes. Reviews are published with the reviewer’s display name. Votes are linked to your account so each member votes once.

Usage information. Counts of listing views and outbound clicks, with the page and, where relevant, the state being viewed. We don’t store IP addresses with them. When someone reaches a missing page we log the address, the referring page and the browser type, so we can fix broken links. Our web servers also keep standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting, and rotate them regularly.

• to show members how their listing performs;
• to keep the Site secure and stop spam, fraud and abuse;
• to answer your questions and fix problems;
• to send occasional updates about Direct Sales Aid, which you can unsubscribe from in any email;
• to meet legal obligations.

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage that the Site needs: your login session, your light or dark theme, and your cookie-notice choice.

Some third-party services we use set their own cookies or receive your browser’s IP address when they load: Google Analytics, Google reCAPTCHA on forms, OpenStreetMap when a map loads, and Google AdSense where ads appear. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work without them.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are viewed and for how long, so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives your IP address, which it does not store. Choose “Decline non-essential” in our cookie notice and we won’t load Google Analytics for you. You can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Some articles, news stories and company pages without a paid listing show ads from Google AdSense. Pages with an active paid listing never show third-party ads.

Choose “Decline non-essential” in our cookie notice and we won’t load ad code for you at all. Where ads run, we use Google’s restricted data processing for US state privacy laws, which limits Google to providing the ad service to us rather than using your information to build advertising profiles. You can also manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.

We don’t sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose it only:

• to service providers who process it for us under contract, listed below;
• publicly, when you publish a listing or review;
• to the member you contact, when you send a lead through a listing;
• when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others;
• in a business transfer, if the Site is sold or reorganized, under this policy.

We keep account and listing information while your account is open. When you close it or ask us to delete it, we delete or anonymize it within 30 days, except where we must keep records for tax, accounting, fraud prevention or legal reasons. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires. Backups roll over on a regular schedule.

The Site is served only over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, payment details are handled by PCI-compliant processors, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll tell you as the law requires.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct anything that’s wrong;
• delete your information and account.

Members can edit or delete listings and account details from their dashboard. For anything else, email info@directsalesaid.com from the address on your account so we can verify it’s you. We respond within 45 days, and you can use an authorized agent. We’ll never treat you differently for using these rights.

California and other US states. Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA) and other states with privacy laws have these rights, plus the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. We don’t sell or share personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there’s nothing to opt out of. See Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. The categories we collect are listed in section 2, the purposes in section 3, and the recipients in section 6.

The Site isn’t directed to children under 13, and you must be 18 or older to create an account. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email info@directsalesaid.com and we’ll delete it.

We send account and billing emails you need, lead notifications when someone contacts you, and occasional news about Direct Sales Aid. Every non-essential email has an unsubscribe link, and members can turn lead emails off for any listing from their dashboard.

Your information is stored and processed in the United States. If you use the Site from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.

Listings and articles link to other websites, including the companies and consultants in our directory. Their privacy practices are their own; read their policies before you share information with them.

We’ll update the date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes, and email account holders about material changes before they take effect.
