How to sign up
Becoming a Scentsy consultant, step by step.
Pick a sponsor
Most people join through the Consultant who introduced them, from the Join button on that Consultant's website. Scentsy also lets you search for a sponsor near you, or enroll without one.
Choose your starter kit
Pick Smart Start ($9), Essential ($49), Host-Exclusive ($59) or Signature ($99). If you are hosting a party, ask about using your Host Rewards toward the Host-Exclusive kit.
Check you are eligible
Scentsy requires you to be of legal age where you live, a legal resident of the country you enroll in, and to have a Social Security number or EIN for tax reporting.
Accept the agreement and pay
You accept the Independent Consultant Agreement and pay by debit card, credit card or another accepted digital method. Scentsy does not take cash or checks.
Decide on your website
Your personal Scentsy website (PWS) is free for three months, then $15 a month. It is optional, but it is where online party orders land.
Log in and launch
Set up your Workstation, work through the digital training, and book a launch party (in person or online) with your sponsor's help.
How you earn
The pay plan, in brief.
Scentsy pays on Personal Retail Volume (PRV), a point value assigned to each product. You earn 20% on your first 1,000 points of lifetime PRV, then become Certified and earn 25% in each month you reach Active status (250 PRV). Bonuses on your own and your team's wholesale volume start at the Coach rank. Scentsy says Consultants earn between 10% and 36% in commissions and bonuses on personal sales.

A simple plan for your first month.
Days 1–3
Learn the catalog
Unpack your kit, try the scents and work through Scentsy's digital training. Note which fragrances you would actually recommend.
Days 1–7
Write your list
List 30 to 50 people who already buy candles or home fragrance. General good practice, not a Scentsy rule.
Week 1
Book a launch party
Plan an in-person or online launch with your sponsor. Party orders through your website count toward your PRV.
Weeks 2–3
Book two or three more parties
Ask your launch guests to host. Scentsy's own quick-start rewards run for your first 15 and 70 days, so ask your sponsor what they require.
Week 4
Check your numbers
Look at your PRV in Workstation. You need 1,000 lifetime PRV to become Certified, and 250 in a month to be Active.
Day 30
Decide on the website
Your free website months end at day 90. Decide early whether online orders will cover the $15 monthly fee.

Questions about joining Scentsy.
How much does it cost to join Scentsy?
Between $9 and $99, plus tax and shipping. Smart Start is $9, the Essential Starter Kit is $49, the Host-Exclusive Starter Kit is $59 and the Signature Starter Kit is $99. The optional personal website is free for three months, then $15 a month.
Is Scentsy free to join?
Not usually. You must buy a starter kit, though the cheapest option is $9. Residents of North Dakota are not required to buy a kit, and former Consultants can rejoin for free.
Can I join Scentsy without a sponsor?
Yes. Scentsy's sponsor page offers an option to enroll without a sponsor. Most people still join through a Consultant they know, who can help with training and parties.
Do Scentsy Consultants have to buy inventory?
No. There is no monthly personal purchase requirement, and customers can order through your website or your parties. Some Consultants buy stock for markets, but that is a choice.
How do Scentsy Consultants get paid?
On Personal Retail Volume: 20% on the first 1,000 lifetime points, then 25% in Active months, plus bonuses. Scentsy offers an option to be paid weekly.
How many sales do you need to stay active with Scentsy?
The September 2026 compensation plan sets Active at 250 PRV in a month. Your account stays current if you are Active at least once in 12 months, or once in four months to keep a downline.
Do Scentsy Consultants get a discount?
Not a standing one. Scentsy says Consultants can host their own parties and earn Host Rewards for free and half-price products.
How much do Scentsy Consultants make?
Scentsy's income disclosure says US Consultants active all of 2025 earned a median of $439.07 and an average of $1,492.55 in commissions, before business expenses.
